BOOK
and LITERATURE SALE
This is a collection of various types of literature of interest to modelers: scale information, old timer plane and engine info, aviation history, model magazines, and general aviation/model aviation types. These items are one-of-a-kind gems, not reprints, and once sold, they are gone. Don't look for these items on the catalog pages except for the Don Ross book and the Posters which are there. All but the Don Ross book and the posters are original publications, used, but in at least very good condition, except as noted. The exception is the Famous Free Flight Model Posters which are new engineering Xerox copies which were scanned from exceptional originals.
If you have questions or need additional detail about any of these items, please email me at aalmps@aol.com . In some cases, prices are negotiable - contact me.

Magazines cannot be sent as media mail, and must go as First Class [or Priority if heavy enough]. Only bound books, 8 mm movies [wonder how many of those get mailed nowadays!], and a few more items - but no magazines.

John Pond Engine features from Model Builder magazine
This is a collection of about 150 engine features from John Pond's MB columns. It comes as two 3 ring 1" notebooks [Volume 1 and 2] containing 305 pages of 8 1/2" X 11" printed card stock which is much thicker than ordinary paper - each page has an engine drawing with text that describes each engine on the back of the page, often including information on the designer. The 3 views contain scale bars, and they are presented at or near full size - in MB, the engine drawings were published in a much smaller size
The 'Contents' links below take you to listings of all the engines included.

Art Suhr's Miniature Race Cars
This is a collection of magazine features and ads for cable and rail cars from 1939-1949. Excellent condition except that this 68 page booklet has been cut from its binding to make loose pages for copying.
Price: $20 plus $4 postage
Art Suhr's "Model Engine Reviews"
These reviews are excerpts from model magazines which appeared from 1936 through 1949. It's a staple-bound 9" X 12" paper back book of 213 pages. The articles are illustrated with a variety of photos, 3 views and isometric drawings of the engines, in addition to text. Unless you have a very extensive magazine collection, you probably haven't seen this much old engine information, ever! Condition: the cover has pulled loose. Overall, the condition is very good.
Price: $40 plus $6 postage
Art Suhr's "The Glow Plug Model Engine 1950-1965"
This booklet is similar to Suhr's 'Reviews' book in that it contains excerpts from model magazines - in this case, mostly pictures from ads and engine features. The booklet is 8 1/2" X 11" and runs to 84 pages. Must repeat the comment shown above: Unless you have a very extensive magazine collection, you probably haven't seen this much old [glow] engine information, ever! Condition: excellent.
Price: $25 plus $5 postage
Air Age Gas Models
This is the booklet of gas model plans from Model Airplane News. It contains 144 pages and is staple bound. It was first copyrighted in 1938. Here is where you'll find Sal Taibi represented by the Winged Yankee, the Pacer, the Powerhouse and the Hornet! The sample plan is for Shulman's "Skyscraper". Condition: the cover has pulled loose. Overall, the condition is very good. I would trade this booklet for a copy of Bill Winter's Plan book.
Price: $20 plus $3 postage
Famous Free Flight Model Posters
Paul Plecan did these posters in 1974. They show 77 notable free flight gas models, all the way back to the very beginnings. Each model is drawn as a profile. At the bottom of each page is a brief paragraph about each of the planes. They're a great reminder of our history and may help you recognize a few of the lesser known models. The posters will look great on your shop wall! They measure 24" X 36"
Here's a sample of the first poster, showing a portion of 32 models [#22: Mystery Man, 27: Zipper, 28: Powerhouse, 29: Molecule, 30: Pacemaker, 31: KGS, 32: Playboy]:
Here's a sample of the second poster which has 45 models [#33: Go Getter, 34: New Ruler, 35: Thermalier, 43: Buzzard Bombshell, 44: Arrow, 50: Nomad]:
The printed images on the posters look much better than the scanned samples. Not sure why that is, but I believe you'll be happy with the posters.
Both posters, shipped in a mailing tube: $14.00 plus 15% postage. Order them by going to the catalog page and looking for 'Famous..'
Don Ross Book
Don Ross has written a monthly column in Flying Models magazine for about as long as I can remember. He accumulated a lot of information about rubber powered models and assembled it into a comprehensive paperback book "Rubber Powered Model Airplanes". You will get a lot of good, very useful information from this book. If you have wondered about how to get started building that model, how to use a winding tube or a dethermalizer - it's all in there! Get your copy here for $14.95 plus 15% postage. It is listed in the AALmps catalog 3 times, under: 'B' for Book, 'D' for Don, and 'R' for Rubber.
